      hi, trans person who’s had this surgery recently here. if anything, top surgery is good for you! not just because of the obvious dysphoria help, but it can lower your odds of breast cancer since less tissue remains.

    Hi, I'm a 17 years old MtF and I'm currently on the waiting list for YourGP. I've heard that the waiting list is currently around an 8 month wait and I've been on the list for nearly 2 months now. I joined the waiting list through an email where I gave them my name, phone number and date of birth. They then got back to me through email confirming that I have been added. Should I be expecting any phone calls from them at any times BEFORE they call me for booking and paying for an appointment at the top of the waiting list or will they only contact me at that time when it's my turn?

    its so inspiring seeing your journey, although im going the opposite side I want to start transitioning to women sometime soon but i dont want to ruin relationships with my loved ones, something you have to take into account i realized is that for a father or a mother is just as difficult for them as well as myself. for example my brother recently passed away and now im the last son my dad has and i feel locked into a rock and a hard place, i really dont want my dad to lose another son.

    Thank you for this video. I agree that it is an uncomfortable term. I often see people talk about the names they were assigned at birth, I don't know how it works in every country but I believe most people were gifted their names by their parents rather than randomly assigned a name off a predetermined list. If that gift doesn't fit you as a person as you grow into yourself then of course you can choose another one. But that name was still a gift, picked with love and care. I am hoping to have children soon and I have been agonising over the names I might give them, what would be the most special, what name would make them feel strong and loved? What name could be unique for them? So much love and careful consideration is going into this gift for someone who doesn't even exist yet. If they grow up and tell me that the name doesn't fit them and they'd like another that would be fine and I would happily find a new name with them, but if they referred to their old name as dead then that would be very hurtful and saddening.

    • @Kai-ep8fg
      @Kai-ep8fg 2 года назад

      depends on how long your hair is, if it’s been longer than a week since you’ve shaved it’ll most likely stick. Just pull it off slowly

      I loved how supportive she was and openly receptive to having discussions around my questions and concerns about sorting things. Definitely felt in control of guiding my preferred direction when it came to the like of injection vs gel T for instance. There was never a pressure for one over the other. It felt like we worked together on planning my care.

    I’m FTM myself and used to struggle with my weight. My family would comment on my early puberty and very curvaceous plump figure and it made me feel really uncomfortable. No binder could bind a chest as fat as mine and I compared myself to others loads, dreaming of the physical features they had such as narrow hips and thighs, or prominent collarbones, cheekbones and jawlines. I was bullied and catcalled, got called insults such as “tramp”, “crybaby”, “bimbo”, and “blondie”, and one boy once asked if he could suck my tits. Once I managed to cut all my unhealthy habits (e.g. pacing more, no liquid calories, cutting down on snacking) I developed an eating disorder and it got pretty bad.

    hi. i have my first appointment at yourgp in 2 weeks, it took 3 or 4 months as dr myskow left. how long did it take inbetween your appointments? i booked the appointment 3 or 4 months ago and i need t desperatly. i live in aberdeen so have to drive down and im in a powerchair and very ill so it will be very hard

    • @EthanWilsonUK
      @EthanWilsonUK 3 года назад

      I was always able to arrange appointments quite quickly. My personal timeframe won't be an accurate reflection as I had a mix of private and NHS supported care happening in tandem that pushed a few months between appointments. If I had gone straight for a private 2nd appointment to see psychiatry - I was offered one within a fortnight of my initial appointment.

      Bro don’t lie, I easily did 35hrs+ And my average Is nowhere near what he says.. People like you who get good scores and in some cases get onto medicine and dentistry, always lie to younger students hoping inside that they don’t make it. Whatever this guys says is rubbish. To get a score around 3000 you’d have to 100 hours minimum over a period of many weeks

    • @EthanWilsonUK
      @EthanWilsonUK 3 года назад

      I appreciate your concern, however I am not lying. I pride myself on openly and honesty sharing my experiences. I only spent the three days prior to sitting the UCAT actually preparing. If anything, I think you will find I am the complete opposite to that which you accuse. I am a huge advocate for widening participation and supporting a more diverse cohort of medics. That’s why all the materials I will be preparing on my other channel and website will be free to access. To help bring down barriers to medicine. I signed up for a 3 month Medify sub, and barely used it. Spent the Monday to Wednesday about 5h a day prepping and sat the UCAT on the Thursday before then going on holiday to visit family.

    • @EthanWilsonUK
      @EthanWilsonUK 3 года назад

      I’d also like to point out to anyone stumbling across this in the future, a reminder that the UCAT is not something you can learn material for and then be examined on and pass/fail. You can learn approaches and techniques to process each of the section types. Everyone is individual in their way of taking it on, whether you spend a few days prepping before sitting it as I did, or spend months prepping it ultimately matters only that you do what you feel comfortable and able to, and give it your best shot.

    • @tayloravery9875

    • @EthanWilsonUK
      @EthanWilsonUK 4 года назад

      Hey. My first appointment was in the May, my second in September when I had my first shot of T. Between those you need to see a psych for second opinion and have bloods done. The time it all takes depends when appointments are available that you can go to tbh. The first appointment we spoke about my background, medical history, and things around why I felt the way I did that led me to going etc. We also spoke about what my hopes and such were for going forward in transition and what I’d want out of it medically. That kind of thing. Weight and BMI does play a part in things particularly for top surgery but I wasn’t in great shape when I started T. I think my BMI was around 37.

      Usually most find it stops when on T, I already had the contraceptive implant prior to that so hadn’t had a monthly cycle for several years prior to HRT. I had the implant removed after I had been on T for a while and had no issues, have had no issues since. If it is affecting you that badly maybe try speaking to your doctor.

My current plan is to take a year out before either my degree or going into an actual job to have surgery and recover and I’ve wanted to do a sign language course for a long time so if I get bored and am recovered enough that’s what I’ll do to pass the time until I can jump back in, but we’ll see how that’ll work funding wise!! :’D

I have become more and more comfortable in myself!

      No - of course not. It’s mostly dependent upon whether the irritated suture settles or keeps playing up. If it is still funny it may be better to have that end nipped out, similarly if it heals very lumpy it may be nearer to redo. Both of us are obviously hoping there is no need to do so!
